I have paid all my late bills off but cant get credit because those debts altho paid have remained on credit bureau report
so what good did it do to pay them off
I paid my bills after they went into collections so how long will it take the credit bureau to clear it fr?
Derogatory accounts continue to show even if paid off for 7-years from the date of first delinquency unless you got the collection company to agree to whats called a %26quot;Pay for delete%26quot; agreement which obviously you did not.
As far as what good it did to pay them, you did the right thing since you owed the debt.

Eventually, it will show that you paid your bills (and the debt is closed). It will take longer if you paid the party and not the collection agency. Once a bill goes to collections you owe the money to the collection agency and not the original party.

The business you owed the money to is who filed the complaint to the credit bureau. The credit bureau has no authority to remove the information, unless the company who filed it requests it to be taken off since you did pay them. Talk to the business people you paid off and plead with them to remove the information for you. The worst they can do is say no, and even then you have not lost anything.
If they absolutely will not take it off, you are entitled to have your explanation of the situation, and the fact that you paid them, attached to your credit report.
Best wishes!

The collections should now say %26quot;paid in full%26quot;. However, it can a take a few months for them to correctly show up on your credit. I recommend sending a copy of your paid in full receipts to the credit bureau to speed up the process, just in case, the collection agency did not report the updated information. The collection agencies are supposed to report when collections are paid, but sometimes accounts get over looked.
Like STIFIMAN1 stated the accounts will stay on your credit for 7 years.

You have paid the accounts, great. You didn%26#039;t arrange for a deletion of the information. That%26#039;s okay.
Now that the debt is paid, and the collection agency won%26#039;t be hounding you with mail and phone calls, you have more of a chance for the information to be removed from your credit file. It can remain for 7 years, however if you dispute the validity of the item on your credit file, they still have to go through the investigation with the credit bureau. Since you have paid, chances are that they won%26#039;t even bother, since they don%26#039;t need any money from you.
They are required to prove you owe them the money per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, if the credit bureau opens an active investigation as to the validity of the item on your credit report. They will if you send them a letter disputing the item.
This is a simple process most don%26#039;t believe in, but it works. If it didn%26#039;t, I wouldn%26#039;t have the lines of credit I do today.

In Canada, debts are recorded on your credit bureau for 6 years. I believe bankruptcies are recorded for 9.
