So does a business have to "sick" a collection agency on you BEFORE reporting to a credit

No, if you have credit with the company they usually report monthly or so. If you get your credit report it will tell you what months you were late over 30, 60 or 90. When it goes into Collection...well, thats a red flag. They have a section on your credit report for things like that and bankrupcy.

No. Businesses are not required to use a collection agency at all. Many large credit card companies have their own in-house collection agencies.

i ran a report on myself in november and i was ok.i tried to rent a house in jan o6 and they turned me down.there had been a old phone bill put on it ,so that i didnot know why.then a collection agency started calling and calling.they said they will not stop calling until i pay it.i will pay when i want to as it is already on my report.
